Price Increase on Cable Service
You may have already received a letter from us (or will in the near future), as we want to keep you in the loop about upcoming changes. Content charges set by television networks continue to rise, and unfortunately, this will lead to higher cable costs on your BTES bill beginning in April 2025.
We want to assure you that we are working hard to keep these increases as manageable as possible. As a member of the National Cable Television Cooperative, we continue to negotiate the best rates possible to deliver you the best value.
IPTV Customers: What’s Next
For the 2,000 or so customers that still subscribe to IPTV cable, due to the ongoing unavailability of critical equipment and the approaching end-of-life for the IPTV system, we’ve made the difficult decision to phase out this service in the near future. We understand this transition may raise questions, and we want you to know we’re here to support you through this change.
Over the past year, we’ve helped more than 750 customers move to alternative cable/video options, and we’d be happy to assist you in transitioning to a service that works best for you.

Clearing Up the Confusion: What You Need to Know
We’ve heard from some customers that competitors are spreading misinformation about our services, including claims that we’re canceling cable services altogether. Let us be crystal clear: We are NOT canceling cable/video services!
If you hear conflicting information from salespeople knocking on your door, remember:
- BTES is still providing video services to our community, and we are committed to doing so for the foreseeable future.
- We are not discontinuing video services, but we are transitioning our IPTV system to ensure we continue offering the best possible service.
- If you ever have questions about your BTES services, call us – we’re happy to help clear up any confusion and make sure you understand your options.
So, What’s the Difference Between "Cable" and "Video"?
It’s more about the terminology than anything else. While many customers associate "cable" with traditional TV service that requires wires and set-top boxes, "video" is a broader term that includes watching content through newer app-based streaming platforms, like BTES TV+. With the rise of streaming, more people are opting for video services that don’t require a physical cable box, offering greater flexibility and convenience.
We’re Here for You
At BTES, we believe in providing reliable, high-quality service that puts our customers first. We understand that the television landscape is changing rapidly, and we’re working hard to keep you connected with the best options available.
