08.20.18 - Officials from the City of Bristol, Tennessee, Bristol Tennessee Essential Services, and other state and local agencies gathered this morning, shovels in hand, to break ground for a new industrial site within the Bristol Business Park. This marks the beginning of a grading and site preparation project that will result in a 50-acre site, 36 acres of which will be pad-ready, capable of accommodating a 420,000-square-foot building.
The park, located along Hwy 394, is owned by BTES, and has been identified by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development as a Select Tennessee Certified Site, meaning that the site has been fully mapped and analyzed with utility infrastructure in place, all factors that minimize cost and risks for potential developers. Once the grading and preparation processes are complete, Bristol Business Park will be home to a highly marketable site, enabling the pursuit of opportunities to attract new, larger employers to the Bristol community that have previously been unattainable due to the lack of sites of this size within the inventory currently available.
This project was made possible thanks in large part to two grants awarded in 2017: a $500,000 Site Development Grant from TNECD, one of only 18 properties in the state to receive this grant last year, plus an additional grant from the TVA Invest Prep program. The requisite matching funds for each of the grants were provided by BTES. These grants were secured through the efforts of economic development staff from the City, BTES, and NETWORKS Sullivan Partnership.
